LAS VEGAS--NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Ken Schrader won't just be racing in the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 and Sam's Town 300 this week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Schrader also announced that he will join the World of Outlaws and compete in the dirt late model event at the Dirt Track at LVMS.
Schrader, who had a second-place finish last week at a similar dirt track event in Texas, will join the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and dirt Late Model Series in a combined event on Thursday and Friday of this week. Schrader will also compete in the Sam's Town 300 on Saturday and the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 on Sunday both at the Superspeedway.
Schrader says that the success he saw last week in Texas played a big role in his decision to run in Las Vegas. "Last week in Texas we ran eighth the first night and second the second night and started 20th," Schrader said. "Between Texas and (LVMS) there are no two finer facilities in the country to race at, and since we already had our Dirt Track car out here, we decided to keep heading west to Las Vegas."
Schrader says that though his week will be busy with four racing events in four days, he's excited to come out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
"To me it's like a perfect weekend," said Schrader. "I get to go out to Las Vegas, camp at the race track, run the dirt car two nights, the (NASCAR) Busch car Saturday and the (NASCAR Nextel Cup) car Sunday. All that and I'm in a fun town. I always look forward to going out to (LVMS)."
