Pendleton, Ind. (June 19, 2003) -- Continuing to perform like a veteran driver, Georgia's Reed Sorenson racked up his sixth top-10 finish of the 2003 ASA Racing Series season. Finishing in the seventh position capped off another outstanding performance as he bagged the first career pole, winning the top spot for the Missouri 250 Presented by Jani-King at I-70 Speedway. Driving the No. 29 ACDelco Chevrolet, Sorenson leads the $50,000 Rookie of the Year standings by 106 points over second place Travis Kittleson.

Kittleson, driving the No. 30 Bob Steele Chevrolet, was listed in ninth spot at I-70, his fifth top-10 finish of 2003. Kittleson has experienced an impressive season, scoring runner-up honors at Concord Motorsport Park and a third place at Toledo Speedway. Two bad outings at Lanier National Speedway and Hawkeye Downs Speedway have placed the Florida racer in second spot.

Illinois competitor Boris Jurkovic finished in 12th spot at I-70 Speedway, in his first experience on a high-banked half-mile. He stayed on the lead lap for the entire event, battling for a top-10 finish up until the end of the event. Jurkovic scored a career best seventh at Concord Motorsport Park in the BFGoodrich Tires 250 and followed that up with a top-15 finish at Lanier.

Davin Scites, in the No. 06 John Michael Montgomery Chevrolet is fourth in the rookie points after finishing 23rd at I-70 Speedway. Scites recorded the biggest victory of his career at Concord in April, passing series veteran Mike Garvey on the final lap of the event. Scites has two top-10 finishes in the opening seven races.

After two top-10 performances in the last three events including a fourth-place showing at Toledo, Brett Sontag has climbed to fifth in the Rookie standings. After losing a lap to the leaders at Hawkeye Downs, Sontag used superb strategy and finished in the eighth spot. At I-70, the Illinois competitor placed 15th, in the most recent event of the schedule.

The eighth event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is set for Saturday, June 21 at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The Ohio 250 takes the green flag at 9 p.m. (Eastern) and will be telecast live on SPEED Channel.
