W J Plemons Investments Enters Sponsorship Agreement Company Will Sponsor Opening Race, Hard Charger Award

PENDLETON, IN (March 6, 2002) ^× W J Plemons Investments has joined the ASA Racing Series corporate family in 2002 and will serve as the sponsor of the season-opening race on March 23-24 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. In addition to sponsor ing the W J Plemons Investments 200 Presented by Jani-King, the company will sponsor the Hard Charger award at each of the 20 races on the ASA schedule.

W J Plemons Investments has been involved with short track racing for a number of years, including the last five years when Bill Plemons Jr. competed in the Hooter's Pro Cup Series and also sponsored the Hard Charger award in that series. That involvement with short track racing also involves a stint with ASA when W J Plemons Investments was a sponsor on the car of Scott Wimmer during the 2000 season.

"We're definitely looking forward to working with ASA," W J Plemons Investments President Myra Plemons said. "We've watched ASA for several years and see this is an opportunity to get a great deal of exposure through the media."

In addition to serving as the sponsor for the opening race and the Hard Charger award, Bill and Myra Plemons are the team owners for veteran driver Mike Garvey. Garvey is the brother-in-law of Bill and Myra Plemons. Myra is the sister of Garvey's wife, Lis a.

"Owning the team that Mike is driving for is allowing us the opportunity to pursue racing as a family," Myra Plemons said. "It's great to have Mike and Lisa back here (in Atlanta) with us and this is a great opportunity for our family. He has a really big fan following and with his success as a driver gets a good deal of media coverage, which will again gain exposure for our company."

The Hard Charger award will be presented each race to the driver who advances the most positions from start to finish. The $500 cash award is another opportunity for W J Plemons Investments to gain exposure and it's a plus for the competitors.

"This is an award Bill has sponsored while he has been racing in the Hooter's Cup Series and it's something we wanted to continue here," Myra Plemons said. "This gives us an opportunity to get a little more exposure, but it also is an opportunity for the r acers to pick up a little extra money."

ASA Marketing Manager Greg Carr is pleased to have W J Plemons Investments join the series for 2002.

"Bill Plemons Jr. is a longtime short track competitor, who brings real value to ASA through his sponsorship involvement and team ownership of veteran driver Mike Garvey," said ASA Marketing Manager Greg Carr. "W J Plemons Investments has entered into a mu lti-faceted program and we're excited to have W J Plemons Investments join our corporate family of sponsors."

The W J Plemons Investments 200 Presented by Jani-King is scheduled to open the 2002 ASA Racing Series season on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. (Eastern). Ticket costs range from $15 to $25 depending on seat location, while tickets to practice and qualifying d ay on Saturday, March 23 are $5. The race will be carried live on TNN Sports.
