(LAKE PERRIS, CA SEPTEMBER 24, 2001) SCRA Sprint Car star Mike Kirby heads the field of Extreme Figure 8 cars headed to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night. Joining the daredevil Figure 8's will be the crazy Pick-A-Part Cruisers and the Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Cars.

Saturday's show will be the final Figure 8 race of the season at The PAS. Kirby, who last Saturday night placed tenth in the SCRA main, has yet to win a Figure 8 race at the popular Riverside County clay oval. In June, the multi talented 37-year old star seemed headed for the victory until his fuel pump was torn off. Kirby, who resides in Lomita, is the only driver in history to have won main events in Sprint Cars and Stock Cars (on the oval track) at The PAS.

Even though Kirby has never won a Figure 8 main at The PAS, winning has stayed within the family. Chris Laney, Kirby's brother in law, has won two of the three Figure 8 races staged over the past two seasons. One of those victories came two weeks ago when he guided his wife's white Camaro to the checkered flag.

Other stars entered in Saturday's event include "Barefoot" Billy Zeeman, Danny Queener and Richie Altman.

Rick Arringdale, of Victorville, and Murrieta's Mike Hixson will continue their season long battle for the 2001 Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Car Championship on Saturday. With only four races left in the season, Arringdale holds a slim 20-point lead over Hixson.

Chad Burns, of Riverside, won the main the last time the PASSCAR Stocks were at The PAS on September 15. That victory allowed him to close to within three digits of teammate Linney White in the battle for third in the point's race.

Rounding out Saturday's triple-header will be the insane Pick-A-Part Cruisers. The Cruisers feature two drivers in each car. The one in the driver's seat controls the steering wheel and brakes while the person in the passenger seat controls the throttle. Included in the Cruiser field is the World's only racing Hearse!!!

For more information on the race or to order tickets, call (909) 940-0134 or visit The PAS on the Internet at www.perrisautospeedway.com.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. Take the 215 Freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds. <pre>
