SUPER DIRT WEEK '98 AGAIN COVERED "LIVE" ON TELEVISION SYRACUSE, NY...For the third straight year the Eckerd 300 at the New York State Fairgrounds will be televised "live" throughout the Northeast. The Super DIRT Week XXVII finale on October 11 will be aired on Empire Sports in New York, Philadelphia-based Comcast and WIXT-TV 9 in Syracuse beginning at 1 p.m., EST. FOX Sports New England (3-6 p.m.) will be offering same day tape-delayed coverage while Speedvision is scheduled to show a one-hour special on Dec. 14 beginning at 3 p.m. "This is the third year of live coverage in Syracuse and the TV crew is excited about all the improvements in quality and technical support," remarked Super DIRT Week creator and DIRT president Glenn Donnelly. "With the recent addition of two Jumbotrons the fans in the stands will be able to see everything the viewers take in at home. I'm expecting this year's event to be even better than the one broadcast last October." Continued live coverage during the 27th annual Salt City showdown creates even more excitement among those race fans unable to attend the 'super bowl' of DIRT track racing. Supporting sponsors will again share in the high level of interest generated as their quality products will reach millions of viewers.
In 1998 "live" coverage begins with 2-1/2 hours of Modified Triple 20s and 358-Modified Twin 20s qualifying action on Friday, October 9. For the second straight year airing of the Prolong Super Lubricants 200 presented by CARQUEST 358-Modified Championship extends coverage from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday three-hour coverage of the Eckerd 300 will be live from 1-4p.m. Check your local listings for tape-delayed airings of the world's richest DIRT track event on additional affiliates throughout the Northeast.
