The AC Delco/Murray's Iceman Series ran their final race of the season, Sunday night at Toledo Speedway. Dave Kuhlman won the battle, winning the 200 lap event, but lost the season long war for the points championship. Fred Campbell won his second career series title by 18 points for Kuhlman.

Fred Campbell joins Bruce VanderLaan, Tim Ice and Dennis Berry as multiple champions. Campbell is the only driver to win multiple championships in non-consecutive years. The Battle Creek, Michigan driver gives car owner Harley Boeve his second series championship (Boeve's also won with Dennis Berry in 1994). Campbell's first championship was in his rookie season (he's the only rookie to win the title) in 1992. Campbell also joins Berry as the only driver to win multiple championships for two different car owners, Campbell's first was with Randy Hosler. **** Campbell led the first four laps from his outside pole position before being overtaken by Harold Fair Jr. The Battle Creek, Michigan driver ran second until being passed by Jerry Cook on lap 128. Kuhlman passed Campbell and Cook 16 laps later to take over the second place position. Campbell's Port City Racing Monte Carlo lost the power steering at half distance, fighting an ill handling car the remainder of the event. Campbell ultimately finished second.

ICE CHIPS EXTRA by Debi Domby, Southgate, Michigan

My condolences Fred Campbell and his family on the death of his father, John, this past Saturday. The week has been one of highs and lows for Fred Campbell. Last Sunday he won his second AC Delco/Murray's Iceman Series championship and now the passing of his father.
