Toledo Speedway Triple 50's 1999-07-02

Round three of the Royal Truck and Trailer/G Tec Truck Equipment Gold Cup Series was held at Toledo Speedway Friday night. Thirty-two SLM were on hand for the 50-lap feature event. The race was won by Canadian Don St. Denis followed by fellow countryman Kevin McCarthy.

Seven cars transferred from the consolation race with Jimmy Thiel in a backup car winning over Gene Krise, Chris Benson, Jay Rohrback, Howard Kelley, Jim Froling in his ASA car and Dan Trosen Jr. Not making the 50 lap feature were the Pelletiers, Brian and Paul.

Polesitter Troy Briggs led the first two laps before St. Denis took over the lead and was never challenged for the win. St. Denis collected the halfway award. McCarthy received the Most Improved bonus for his career high second place finish.

The 50-lap street stock feature was won by Bryan Ausmus. It was his first career feature event. Randy Cornett led the first 27 laps until he became involved in a five car tangle on the frontstretch. Ausmus inherited the lead and had to hold back a hard charging Dennis Randall for the popular victory.

Robbie Loving won the 50-lap ARCA Auto Value Figure 8 Series main event. Rookie Ricky Kargel led the eight laps before Loving took command. Close action at the intersection kept fans on the edge of their seats. The final couple laps saw a close battle between Loving, Ken Ahlgren and Craig Pace.

Dan Johnson took home his third feature victory of the season in the 20-lap Factory Stock feature. He was closely followed by Kevin Burnheimer who spun coming down for the checker and crossed the finish line backwards.
