Trail-Way results 1004-10-01

Hanover, PA -- Gettysburg's Mike Walls led the final twenty laps of the fifty-lap thundercar finale Friday night, in the Thunder on The Farm main event.

"The car was pretty good on long green flag runs," commented Walls, "We had the right combination to win."

Walls who started seventh quickly maneuvered his way through the field, passing Bryan Wagaman on lap thirty-one to secure the lead. After passing Wagaman, Walls quickly drove away from the entire field.

A caution involving the 1T of Paul Decker and the 93 of Gary Warehime, along with a caution brought out by Randy Zechman were the only cautions in the fifty-lap feature race.

Wagaman remained second for several laps, but was passed on lap thirty-nine by Trail-Way's 2004 track champion Sam Gallagher. Gallagher had a strong car but was unable to take the lead and the win away from Walls. Gallagher finished the night second.

Early race leader Ron Shultz passed Bryan Wagaman for the third position on the final lap of the race. Wagaman held on for a strong fourth place finish. Rounding out the top five was Littlestown's Gregg Messersmith.

Completing the top ten were Mark Shorb, John McDonough Jr., Mike Zeigler Sr., Neil Smith and Nat Tuckey.

In street stock action, Chris Holston grabbed his third win of the 2004 racing season. Holston led the final twenty laps of the forty-lap feature race.

Early race leader and polesitter Ron Myers Jr. led the first twenty laps of the race, but was soon passed by Holston's hard charging #20 machine.

Holston, who has had a stellar season in the street stock division came into tonight's racing second in the points, only twenty-seven points behind Robert Stough who had an equally commendable year. Holston did all he could by winning the feature but was unable to make any significant ground on Stough, as Stough was crowned the 2004 street stock track champion.

Ted Forsythe who came in third in the points had an excellent night in his #12 stock car. Forsythe started the night on the inside of the fifth row but quickly maneuvered his way through the field to hold on for a solid second place finish.

Following Holston and Forsythe was Stough, Danny Beard and Justin Mong. Completing the top ten were Marshall McMullen, Mike Herman, Ken Aiosa, Kevin Sprague and Charles Brittain.

Classic cars were also added onto the night's events. Veteran racer, Bill Brown Sr. picked up the fifteen-lap feature.

Al Daniels led the first five laps of the race but was shuffled back while Jim Snodgrass took over the lead for the next eight laps. While battle for the first position Snodgrass and Kurt Welsh got together in the first and second turn area resulting in Brown taking over the lead on the next restart. Brown held on for the final two laps to take the win.

Coming across the line behind Brown Sr. were Roland Brown, Jim Crocker, Jamie Lloyd and Al Daniels completing the top five.

In Old Timers racing action, Jim McBee passed early race leader Doug Legum on the seventh lap of the feature race to take the win.

Legum joined McBee during his interview, showing the crowd how much fun these old timers had in just ten laps.

Results for the old timers race were McBee, Bob Guise, Cork Stull, Legum, Mark Engleskirch and Bob Rohrbaugh.
