Pontoon Beach, IL (June 26, 2005) The Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers presented the Mid-Season Championships at Tri-City Speedway. A great field of cars turned out and provided an excellent and fun night of racing.

Tri-City Speedway's UMP Late Model point leader Steve Sheppard showed everyone why he is the point leader as he swept the night's events by winning his qualifying heat, the dash and the main event. Sheppard led all twenty-five laps of the main event but was challenged seriously for the lead on several occassions by Mark Oller and Michael Kloos. Oller used the middle groove to pull along side Sheppard on lap sixteen but couldn't make the pass. Sheppard would pull away in the closing laps to earn the win. Oller would cross the line in second with Kloos finishing third. Ed Dixon came home in the fourth spot with Billy Laycock rounding out the top five. The main event was briefly red flagged when scary crash involving Shawn Rayfield, Steve Grotz and Kevin Lee happened in turn three. Grotz's machine ended up almost completely on top of Rayfield's car. All the drivers were uninjured and Grotz and Lee were able to restart the race.

UMP Modified track point leader Ray Walsh's night got off to a tough start. Walsh's engine expired in his familiar 1W machine on the final lap his qualifying heat. Walsh had a sizeable lead and was able to coast across the finish line to win that heat. Andy Anderson loaned Ray Walsh his machine for the main event, since it was Mid-Season Championship night and the feature was lined up by points, Walsh was able to retain his front row pole starting position. Walsh jumped out to the early lead when the green flagged dropped, but surrendered the lead on lap eight when he left enough room underneath for Bobby Martintoni to sneak past. Martintini had to fight off Walsh for the remainder of the event as Walsh stayed glued to his back bumper the rest of the way. Martintoni was able to hang on and take the win with Walsh finishing second. Jim Lafferty, John Stanton and Ricky Huebner completed the top five.

Brandon Hogenson took the win in the Sportsman division. Hogenson moved past early leader Jimmy Cummins on lap six and never looked back. Don Grimm took the second place finish as he moved past Cummins in the closing laps. Cummins settled for third with Dennis Wernle and Bryan Slover finishing fourth and fifth.

Sam Kizer won the Street Stock main event in a photo finish over Brad Yotter. The two crossed the finish line just inches apart with Kizer just barely ahead at the line. Robby Benson made it a three way race for the lead throughout the closing laps and finished third very closely behind the two leaders. Jason Stanton took the fourth spot and Eric Skinner came home fifth.

Aaron Wood led wire to wire to earn the victory in the Factory Stock division. Ralph Bradford followed Wood across the line in the second spot with Ken Bell taking third. Ryan Kress and Paul McEntyre rounded out the top five.
