USAR Heads To New Track! Again

Holland, NY- While the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division plans its stop at the Holland Speedway, in Holland, NY, for the running of the Hooters ProCup 250 Presented by Oneganos, drivers are wondering," what's next?"

Bobby Gegetskas, driver of the #12 Aarons Sales and Lease Chevrolet, currently 12th in the Northern division point standings at five races into the year, has experience running the tight 3/8's mile bullring.

" It is a Chemung-type facility. A little smaller, a little higher banked. Entering and exiting pit road is very smooth. The turns are real nice banked corners and you can carry a lot of speed in a lot of speed out. There is definetely a lot of room for passing, and it is also a two groove racetrack. The pit area is a little tight, the configuration is a little weird, so we all have to be careful out there."

The northern series drivers have been careful; out of six races, the caution flag has appeared 51 times. Gegetskas has run Holland Speedway in his modified car for the past four years. " We went there last year and got rained out, but Holland is definitely a track that the Aaron's team has a lot of experience at."

Tim Bainey, Jr. driver of the #11 Jackaroo Sauces Ford, is 18th in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division points.

" Things are going pretty good for this year. We have been running real well. Our finishes haven't been as good as we have been running, but as long as we are in the top-25 for the end of the year, to make the five championship races we will be o.k."

Bainey believes that Holland will be a good experience for his team, even though this will be the first time that the crew has seen the track. " We have talked to a couple of people who have been there before, and are trying to develop ideas from there," said the resident from Osceola Mills, PA.

Practice can sometimes be the most important time of the day, especially for the rookie teams of the USAR Hooters ProCup series.

" It is important to get a lot of practice. You can go out there and run one hundred laps, but you only get twenty clean laps, because you have guys slowing down entering the pits, or slow guys exiting the pit, that is the biggest part, but you want to be on the track as long as you can," Bainey exclaimed.

Practice begins for the Hooters ProCup 250 presented by Oneganos at 11 a.m. with Sunoco Pole qualifying beginning at 5 p.m. The green flag will fall at 7 p.m. followed by the Cup Lites. For more information, please visit our website at www.usarprocup.com
