FIVE NEW WINNERS VISIT VICTORY LANE AT BENTZ GM COUNTRY SCOTLAND COUNTY SPEEDWAY

MEMPHIS, Mo. (May 14, 2005) -- The Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway saw five new winners and one repeat winner on Ruth Enterprise/US Bank Night at the Speedway. Mark VanWinkle (USRA Modifieds), Troy Alexander (USRA Stock Cars), Tony Dunker (USRA B-Modifieds), Dave Hudson (Cruisers) and Tyler Schulte (Hornets) all picked up their first wins of 2005 at Memphis, while Chris Wibbell (USRA Hobby Stocks) claimed his second win of the season at the speedway.

The USRA B-Modified feature was the first of the evening, with Tony Dunker and Larry Newman leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Dunker would jump out front on lap 1, with Jerry Reese Jr. and Chris Larson battling for second. While Dunker continued to lead, the battle for second heated up between Reese Jr., Larson and Jack Evans Jr., who started 10th. Dunker led all 12 laps and held off a final late challenge from Evans to claim his first win of the season at Memphis. Reese held on for third, Larson was fourth, with Ron York rounding out the top-5. York and Dunker picked up heat race wins.

Michael Browning and Troy Alexander made up the front row for the 15-lap USRA Stock Car feature, with Alexander taking advantage of his start to grab the lead on lap 1. Alexander would lead all 15 laps and held off several challenges from Jason Cook to pick up his first win of the season at the speedway. John Oliver Jr., who was filling in for the injured Ryan Cook in the No. 27R machine, started 10th and finished third, Browning was fourth, with Bert McDaniel coming home in fifth. Heat race winners were Alexander and Cook.

Next up was the 10-lap Hornet feature, with Brandon Savage and Tyler Schulte leading the field to the start. Schulte took the lead on lap 1, with Savage and Gordon Blankenship Jr. close behind in second. Schulte would lead all 10 laps to claim his first win of 2005 at Memphis. Blankenship held off a challenge from Dennis Schulte, who started eighth, to finish second. Savage was fourth, with Michael Grossman coming from 10th to round out the top-5. D. Schulte and T. Schulte each picked up heat race wins.

Dave Hudson finally got the mechanical bug off his back to pick up his first win of the season at the speedway in the Cruiser feature. Andrew Schulte and Hudson started the 10-lap feature on the front row, with Hudson jumping out front on lap 1. Hudson, who has yet to finish a feature in 2005 due to mechanical troubles, led all 10 laps to claim the win. Craig Spilker edged out Jeremy Buss at the line to finish in second, Keith Reed was fourth, with Shawn Crowell coming home in fifth. Heat race winners were Reed and Hudson.

The 15-lap USRA Hobby Stock feature had Mike Shelton and Tim Pettibone on the front row, with Shelton taking advantage of his start to lead lap 1. Shelton would hold the top spot until lap 3, when Chris Wibbell slipped under him to take over the lead. Wibbell then led the final 12 laps to pick up his second win of the season at Memphis. Brandon Symmonds came from 11th to finish in second, Tony Becerra started 10th and finished third, Justin Hamelton was fourth, with Jim Oliver Jr. coming from 12th to round out the top-5. Symmonds, Shelton and Mark Holt claimed victories in the heat races.

The final feature of the evening was the 20-lap USRA Modified feature. Jim Gillenwater and Mark VanWinkle led the field to the drop of the green flag, with Gillenwater grabbing the lead on lap 1. Gillenwater then held the lead until lap 3, when VanWinkle slipped under him to take over the top spot. VanWinkle held the lead until lap 17, when Tony Fraise went by for the lead. Fraise would lead the final three laps to cross the finish line first, but it was determined that Fraise, who went to the pits on lap 2 for a flat tire didn't make it back out on the lead lap. Thus giving the win to VanWinkle -- his first of the season at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway. Michael Long was second, Bob Dale was third, Gillenwater held on for fourth, with Ryan Meyer coming from the rear, after an early spin, to come home in fifth. Heat race winners were Mark Burgtorf and Ted Allen.

Coming up next week will be the first of four Late Model Model specials at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway, with Trump Trucks and Findling Collision Center sponsoring next week's races. The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series will continue next week in the USRA Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Modifieds and Hobby Stock divisions, along with the Cruisers and Hornets in action.
