VERNON, NY - The all-new United Late Model Series (ULMS) will invade the New Utica-Rome Speedway on Route 5 in Vernon for a 40-lap showdown on August 17 paying a hefty $4000 to the winner.

The alcohol powered 4-barrel carburetor wide bodied sleek Dirt Late Models will have Utica-Rome race fans on their feet as they three wheel around the fast Utica-Rome half-mile oval.

Many of the top Dirt Late Model drivers from this section of the country will be in attendance to try to win the first ever Late Model race at Utica-Rome and the first ever ULMS sanctioned event. Just some of the expected stars at Utica-Rome for this open competition special will be MACS drivers Ed Carley, Bob Close, Todd Andrews, and Jim Mazur. Other top drivers on hand will be McKean County Raceway point leader Bob Baldwin, Penn Can and Skyline hot shoe Dan Stone, Jim Bernheisel, Allen Coy, Gene Sharpsteen, Marshall Shunk, R.J. Windhausen, and many more.

A draw will be used to determine heat lineups, and a dash for cash will be run following the heat races with the top finishers. The feature race will be a wide-open affair, since no driver will have a hometrack advantage. Utica-Rome will be a neutral battleground with drivers trying to find the proper setup to put themselves in the history books as the winner of the first ever ULMS race.

The anticipation is building for this exciting event at Utica-Rome on August 17, which will bring Dirt Late Models back into Central New York for the first time since Super DIRT Week in 1996. It is expected that many of the fans at Utica-Rome will have never seen a Late Model race before this event.

Also scheduled for the same night at Utica-Rome is a 20-lap non-point special for the DIRT Sportsman division. The gates will open at 5pm and racing will begin promptly at 7pm.

The New Utica-Rome Speedway is a family tradition in the Mohawk Valley of Central New York. It is easily accessible from NYS Thruway Exit 33 and located just 20 minutes west of Utica, NY on Route 5 in Vernon. Free parking and overnight camping is allowed on speedway grounds.=20
