MERRIAM, Kan. (February 2, 2000) -- With the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series racing season only months away, driver Rick Beebe has begun preparations for the new year. Beebe will team up with Gerry Gunderman out of Franklin, Wis.

"I am so excited about running the 2000 season, probably more excited than I have been at anytime in my career," said Beebe. "Teaming up with Gerry Gunderman will be great. I know that I will have the best equipment that it takes to run for a championship. "

While efforts to find a sponsor for the year continue, Beebe and Gunderman plan to race the entire season regardless.

"I am where I want to be with my career here in the ASA. I just want to win the championship, probably worse now than I ever have," said Beebe. "I think most drivers will agree that no series has the atmosphere and feeling that ASA has."

Although his ASA career started in 1993, Beebe first left an impression in 1995, finishing 13th in points and winning the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year. Since then, Beebe has amassed two victories and has finished in the top-10 in points in each of the last three seasons. He has also spent time behind the wheel of Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck and numerous other vehicles. When not at the racetrack, Beebe owns and operates his own heating and cooling business in Kansas.

Beebe will drive out of the Gunderman shops in Milwaukee. Gunderman started with ASA in 1984 and, in 1985, fielded a car for a young driver by the name of Mark Martin. Since that time, Gunderman has owned cars driven by Ted Musgrave, the late Davey Allison , Scott Hansen, Mike Garvey, Darrell Waltrip and most recently ran with Bob Senneker twice in 1999. The 20-race 2000 ASA ACDelco Series will kick off its season March 24, 25 and 26 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland (FL). Other stops in the series include Chicago Motor Speedway, Gateway International Speedway, Memphis Motorsports Park, The Milwauk ee Mile and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
