While Singh won the first race comfortably, Sandeep Kumar had to battle hard to keep the former at bay to win the second race at the Kari Motor Speedway. The Volkswagen Ameo Cup is part of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship.
Sandeep Kumar and Aditya Pawar were second and third respectively, behind Singh.
The second Ameo Cup race of the season saw Sandeep Kumar shoot into the lead and maintain it throughout to take a well-deserved win.
However, pole sitter Sandeep Kumar did not have a moment of peace being at the head of the pack. Singh kept breathing down his neck and threatened to get past any time. There were moments when the two cars even made contact. But, Sandeep Kumar defended well and did well till the end and ended up the winner. Singh and Dhruv Mohite finished second and third respectively.
Earlier, in the Indian Touring cars, Deepak Paul Chinnappa made it a memorable day for himself and his Race Concepts team with two wins in the ITC class.
In the second race of the weekend, Ashish Ramaswamy (Red Rooster Performance) and Arjun Narendran (Red Rooster Performance) finished second and third. In the third, Narendran and D Vidya Prakash (Prime Racing) finished second and third.
Ashish Ramaswamy (Red Rooster Performance) had won the opening race on Saturday.
Chinnappa had car problems on Saturday. But it turned out to be a perfect Sunday for the Bangalore driver as things fell into place. He was able to pull off both ITC race wins and he was seemingly delighted with his achievement.
"We have been trying to win for three years now and our dream has come true," Chinnappa, who started third on the grid, said.
"Both races were clean. Though I started third, I got ahead of Ashish at the start. In the second lap, Arjun (Narendran) went wide and I overtook him. From there, it was a straightforward thing to the finish line," Chinnappa added.
Pole sitter Narendran, said: "I got a good start but the balance of the car was not very good at the last corner and it resulted in me going wide.
"It was unsettling and I tried to make up but it not happen," he explained.
