Reddy maintained his lead at the start of the race as rookie Raghav Sharma leapfrogged Sailesh Bolisetti for second while Karminder Singh moved up to third.

As Bolisetti fell down the order, Singh too lost his third place to charging Ishaan Dodhiwala who got up to slot himself behind Sharma.

Dodhiwala took no time to despatch Sharma and move to second. Behind them, Sharma and Harkishan Wadia collided while trying to overtake Singh which brought the red-flag out.

Wadia hit Sharma which ended both the drivers race. The other retiree list had Bolisetti, Rajeev Srivastav and Pratik Sonawane.

The race started under the safety car after the cars were cleared. As the safety car went in, Reddy maintained the lead with Dodhiwala and Singh behind.

The two Hyderabad drivers fought hard but it was Reddy who took his first win of the season while Dodhiwala finished second, his first podium.

The ever-consistent Singh finished third while Rithvik Thomas and Vighneshwar Devarajan completed the top five.

Sidharth Balasundaram and Sahul Gahuri had a fine battle for sixth but it was Balasundaram who managed to hold on to his position.

The top 10 was completed by Pradeep Vaidyam at eighth, Amit Mete ninth and Amit Kokate 10th.

After a good qualifying, Neha Dabas finished 13th behind her sister Ria who made up seven places after starting 19th.

Race two will start at 13:40 local time on Sunday.
