Ahead of the maiden season of Ameo Cup, the car for which is currently undergoing testing, three races were held using old Vento Cup machines.

Singh, who finished runner-up in the last two seasons of Volkswagen’s one-make championship, triumphed in each of the three races to bag a fully-sponsored drive in the Ameo Cup.

“Congratulations to Karminder for a perfect weekend that secured him a place in Ameo Cup 2017,’’ Volkswagen Motorsport India boss Sirish Vissa said.

“We are now gearing up for our Ameo Cup which starts in a few months’ time. There is a lot of work to be done before we can line up all our Ameo race cars on the grid later this year and we are now shifting into the top gear to get the new series rolling.”

Meanwhile, Ameya Walavalkar and Sandeep Kumar also put on an impressive show, bagging two podium positions each. The two drivers will get a funding of 40 percent and 20 percent on their race fee respectively.

2015 Volkswagen Vento Cup Anindith Reddy was also in the driving seat, providing a benchmark for some of his less experienced counterparts.

Singh will join the 15 drivers who have already been selected for the Ameo Cup. The entry list for the season is expected shortly.

A test mule of the Ameo Cup car is currently undergoing testing, with Karthik Tharani and Rayomand Banajee expected to drive it around the BIC in the coming week.

The new machinery is expected to feature a brand new engine. It will also come with a rear spoiler to compensate for the weight of a the smaller boot.
