Volkswagen Ameo: Jhabakh, Sonawane win on rain-hit Sunday
Jeet Jhabakh and Pratik Sonawane scored a victory each as the third round of Volkswagen Ameo Class concluded on a day of mixed weather in Chennai.

Jhabakh produces a wet-weather masterclass to open the day with a win, while Sonawane put on an equally impressive show in dry conditions to notch up his second victory in as many rounds.
Saurav Bandyopadhyay couldn’t add to his yesterday’s win, but continues to lead the championship from Siddharth Mehdiratta and Sonawane.
The first race of the day started behind the safety car, as treacherous conditions rendered a standing start unsuitable.
After the safety car pulled in, pole-sitter Harsh Sheth initially edged clear of the rest of the field, before being swamped by the chasing pack.
That allowed Jhabakh to take the lead and subsequently a three-second victory, with Aiman Sadat finishing second and Mehdiratta completing the podium spots.
Jhabakh’s victory chances were aided by a critical error from Sonawane, who retired on lap 5 after succumbing to the tricky conditions.
Sonanwane later bounced back from his mistake to take victory in the final race of the weekend, charging his way from fourth on the grid.
Mehdiratta finished second after he passed Shubhomoy Ball on lap 2.
