JR Motorsports race report

Sebring

Daniel Ramoutarsingh and JR Motorsports land a respectable 7th place finish during Round 1 of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Race from Sebring, FL

Our goal was to have a fast car at the end of the race, and we DID.

Daniel Ramoutarsingh

Sebring, FL (March 18, 2011) Daniel Ramoutarsingh and JR Motorsports, finished in the 7th position in the #18 Trinrico Steel & Wire Products Jaguar XKR during Round 1 of the 2011 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series event from Sebring, Florida.

After qualifying in 6th place, Daniel (Trinidad), piloting the #18 Trinrico Steel and Wire Jaguar XKR, fought his way up to 4th place, at times, being the quickest car on the track. During the 28 lap event, drivers only saw one caution that lasted 3 laps. During the restart, the #18 JR Motorsports was phenomenal!

“We were in 5th position, I saw my shot and I took it. Unfortunately, at one point on that lap, I got into something and spun. The track was dirty with debris and oil and we dropped a wheel on the Tower Corner 13 exit. We got held up re-passing some slower competitors while recovering from the spin, but the real challenge was the damage to the tires caused by the spin. Once you flat spot tires in a race, it's a downhill process and not long until you are out of tires and that was the reality we faced. This was our first race with a new car, new team, basically-new everything. I couldn’t be more proud of my team and ALL of those who have supported us”, commented Daniel. “Our goal was to have a fast car at the end of the race, and we DID. We were second fastest only to the leader upon the restart. We were in P5 and gaining, a podium was within our grasp and we took our shot. We race to win. The issues we faced upon arrival were only rectified in the qualifying lap, which was cut short. The call to move forward with the set up was proven in the race. The fact that we were consistent to our qualifying time after the restart with so many gruelling laps under the car on deteriorating track conditions tells us we went in the right direction regarding the car set up”, comments Daniel.

“We are very positive about the rest of the season. I’d like to extend a very special thank you to Trinrico Steel and Wire Products Ltd and JR Motorsports for the opportunity to return to such an iconic American series and leave with such a sense of accomplishment and positivity. We now look towards the rest of the 2011season. I must thank my friend Casper for his dedication and hard work over the past months. His contribution went above and beyond the call of duty.”
