THE SCCA TRANS-AM CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO LIME ROCK PARK FOR THE NEW ENGLAND DODGE DEALERS' 250

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The SCCA Trans-Am Championship will return to Lime Rock Park to headline the New England Dodge Dealers' 250 SCCA Pro Racing weekend May 26-29, SCCA Pro Racing, Ltd., President Dan Greenwood and Lime Rock Park General Manager Mike Rand jointly announced today.

The 250 kilometer (155-mile) New England Dodge Dealer's Trans-Am Championship race will be the Monday feature during the Memorial Day weekend, marking the 17th visit to Lime Rock since 1967 for North America's longest continuously running road racing series.

"The return to Lime Rock will be a real boost for the Trans-Am Championship." said Greenwood. "Lime Rock is a premier racing facility with a long and celebrated history with the Trans-Am Championship. The Lime Rock market also is very important to sponsors that participate in the series."

The Trans-Am Championship first competed at Lime Rock in 1967, and in the years since Peter Revson's inaugural victory, a who's who of road racing's best drivers have claimed a Lime Rock Trans-Am win, including Mark Donohue, Sam Posey, Parnelli Jones, George Follmer, Al Holbert, Paul Newman, Scott Pruett and most recently, Tommy Archer in 1993.

A strong field of drivers is slated to return to the Trans-Am Championship in 1995, and the New England Dodge Dealers' 250 should prove to be a real battle as past Lime Rock winners Greg Pickett, Dorsey Schroeder and Ron Fellows go fender to fender with Tom Kendall, Paul Gentilozzi, Chris Kneifel, Ric McCormick, Jamie Galles, Boris Said, Price Cobb and a host of other top competitors.

"We're extremely pleased to have the Trans-Am Championship back at Lime Rock Park," said Rand. "The Trans-Am is North America's foremost road racing series -- the intense competition and top-name drivers running in the Trans-Am Championship will make the New England Dodge Dealers' 250 one of the most exciting races of the year."

The New England Dodge Dealers' 250 will mark the first time since 1969 that the Trans-Am Championship has competed on the Memorial Day weekend at Lime Rock Park.
