Lou Gigliotti picks up Young Chevrolet

WYLIE, Tex. (February 11, 2000) — Young Chevrolet, the Dallas area's racing Chevy dealership, and Lou Gigliotti, owner of LG Motorsports and competitor in the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series, announced an associate sponsorship deal today for the 2000 Trans-Am Series.

"I'm really happy to have as prestigious and aggressive a Chevy dealership as Young Chevrolet back on board with LG Motorsports for the 2000 season," commented Gigliotti. "I have had an association with them, on and off, since 1988. With their help, I brought home two World Challenge championships. Now we've got our sights set on the Trans-Am series."

Gigliotti will be campaigning a Chevrolet Corvette C5 in the Trans-Am series, designed and built at LG Motorsports by Gigliotti himself. Gigliotti holds the record for most World Challenge wins in a career, and goes into this, his third full season of Trans-Am competition, with one Trans-Am win to his credit. All wins have come in self-built cars.

Young Chevrolet has been actively involved in motorsports for several years, having had previous associations with such drivers as three-time Indy 500 champion Johnny Rutherford and four-time Trans-Am titlist Tommy Kendall in the Corvette Challenge series. Currently, they also have an association with IRL champion, Greg Ray.

The Trans-Am series, sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), is the longest continuously-running road racing series in North America, and will stage its 35th season of racing this year. The Trans-Am will come to Texas twice in 2000; on Labor Day weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, and on September 29-30, in Houston.
