TRANS-AM DRIVER STEVE TOTH TO 'RACE FOR THE CURE' AT SAN JOSE
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 20, 2005) -- Steve Toth, who competes in the Trans-Am Series' GT America Class, will drive in support of The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's San Francisco Affiliate during the July 29-30 Cytomax Sport Drink 100, part of the Taylor Woodrow San Jose Grand Prix.
As part of the agreement, Toth's No. 63 Pontiac Grand Prix will carry the organization's Race for the Cure® trademark and the internationally recognized pink ribbon, which symbolizes breast cancer awareness, on the hood. Also, the Toth Motorsports Girls will raffle off racing memorabilia at his racing transporter in the Trans-Am paddock. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and early detection of breast cancer.
Toth will return to competition at San Jose after recovering from a back injury. His son, Stevie, as always, will be cheering for him from the pits.
"Little Stevie and I are very excited I'm back in the driver's seat, and we're ecstatic to see the growth in Trans-Am's GTA Class," said Toth. "The in-market promotional strength from GTA allows us to raise additional funds for a very good cause. We're proud to be racing for the cure this weekend.
"The Toth Motorsports Girls will be raffling off some really great prizes, and with your donation you can help support breast cancer research and early detection," concluded Toth. "When breast cancer is detected early, there is a 95% cure rate."
For more than 20 years, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world
The Trans-Am Series features closed-fendered, production-based, V-8-powered sports cars, competing on permanent road courses, and temporary street and airport circuits throughout North America. The Trans-Am Series is America's oldest continuously running road racing series and celebrates its 40th year of consecutive competition in 2005
