Johnny Miller, driver of the no. 64 Automationdirect/Eaton Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR, finished fifth after qualifying fourth and starting 18TH as a result of changing four tires due to an off-track excursion during yesterday's qualifying session. In 2001, finished a career-best third in the points standings, after ranking first or second most of the season. In 2001,had five top-three finishes and completed every lap of every race. Earned the Owners' Championship for Rocketsports.Has 30 career top-five finishes. In 2000, scored his first career Trans-Am win at San Diego. Voted "Most Improved Driver" for 1998.Won the "Rookie of the Year" title in 1996.

On his race today. "Well, we tried. We had traffic issues on the restart which didn't help us. We ran out of time. If we had one more lap, we would have caught both Leitzinger and Ave. Heck, we turned our fastest lap of the race on the very last lap. But we outdrove Stu (Hayner) to protect our position in the points standings. We did it fair and square without contact or blocking. When we were starting to gain ground on Leitzinger and Ave, I didn't want to make a foolish mistake that would allow Stu to get by. Protecting our position in the points standings was more important than ego. We had a good weekend and that's a good way to end the season and look ahead to what's next."
