Tata announces truck racing driver programme
Tata Motors has announced a development programme for truck racing drivers ahead of the third edition of T1 Prima championship in March.

During the first two years, Tata’s homegrown racing championship didn’t feature a single Indian driver, with the entire field comprising of drivers from abroad.
But for its third edition, the Indian auto giant has solved this issue with the launch of a development programme to breed truck racing drivers.
In all, 12 drivers will be selected, all being ‘key customers’ of Tata Motors and its range of trucks.
“We at Tata Motors are delighted to host season III of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, a much-awaited calendar event and one of the most pioneering in the country’s commercial vehicle industry & India’s motorsports history,’’ Ravindra Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said.
“Ever since it was first introduced in 2014, T1 has proved to be a great platform to showcase the prowess of the Indian commercial vehicles industry and that of Tata Motors.
"Season III presents us with a great opportunity to launch our next big initiative for Indian Race Truck drivers,’’ he added.

The Indian racers will form the Super-Class while the Pro-Class will sport the experienced counterparts from foreign countries.
The 2016 Tata T1 Prima Championship will take place at the Buddh International Circuit on March 20.
