Jessup Makes Comeback Run at Anderson

The Glen Neibel Classic at the Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana gave Marc Jessup with his Jessup Racing, LLC. team a chance to show the rest of the competition in the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series how much they improved during the off season.

After qualifying fourth fastest Jessup had difficulty moving into a transfer position, Jessup was able to move into the feature event via the last chance race. In the feature Jessup moved into second around Levi Jones and challenged Jay Drake for the lead. Then while coming off turn four Jessup spun, kicking up enough dust from the infield to bring out the caution flag. After being sent to the rear of the field for causing the yellow Marc raced back up to 11th position on the tight ¼ mile oval.

"I started third and settled into running in third position after the green," said Jessup. Then around lap five or so Drake got by Levi, then five laps later I passed Levi. It took me about 4-5 laps to chase Drake down. I followed him for a few laps, then coming off turn four he pushed up the track a little and I got under him about half a car length. We got close, my tire got on the apron, and apparently there was some oil dry lying there. As soon as I hit the oil dry I spun out."

"It was really tough to pass due to there not being a second groove. We managed to get back up to 11th. I was really disappointed because we had the fastest car on the track. The worst part was it could have been our first USAC victory."

Jessup is still at this time without a ride on the dirt for this weekend's USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car series event at the Raceway at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

"I've had a few leads, but nothing has been put together yet for Beaver Dam," said Jessup, who hopes to find something before Saturday to compete and maintain his position in the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car point standings.
