7 Opportunities for Earl's Points This Week

Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier Championship points are up for grabs this week in seven USAC racing events.

Dave Steele leads the Weld Racing Silver Crown FQ standings going into Friday's 52nd Budweiser "Hoosier Hundred" at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. He also leads the National Midget FQ standings going into Thursday's "Vogler Classic" at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome and Saturday's Coca-Cola "Night Before the 500" at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Jay Drake leads the Valvoline National Sprint Car FQ standings going into Wednesday's "USAC 50" at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway and Sunday's Border Wars X "Don Branson/Jud Larson" classic at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Rex Norris III is atop the Midwest Ford Focus Midget FQ standings going into races Wednesday at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway and Thursday at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome.

Earl's fast qualifiers last week included Bud Kaeding in Saturday's "Tony Hulman Classic" Sprint at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track, Jerry Coons, Jr. in Friday's "Hut Hundred" Midget race at the same track, Jerome Rodela in Saturday's Western Midget race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and Chris Rahe in the California Ford Focus Midget Series at Perris.

Points are traditionally awarded at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9. 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.

Each USAC National, Western and Ford Focus Midget Car Earl's Plumbing FQ Champion will be honored at USAC's Champions Night ceremony in Indianapolis in December. The National and Western FQ champs will receive $5,000 each, while the Ford Focus FQ champs will each receive $1,500.
