CALIFORNIA FOCUS WEEK CONTINUES AT VENTURA, WATSONVILLE; CONCORD, SALT LAKE CITY ALSO HOST FOCUS RACES; ACTON, LITTLE, BLACKHURST, WALKER< CARLSON & MARTINEZ ALL WIN

California Focus Week concludes this week with Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns races at Ventura Raceway Wednesday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville Saturday night. USAC Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns action also occurs Wednesday night at Concord (N.C.) Speedway and the Western/Utah Focus Series returns to Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City Saturday.

Cody Acton of Maiden, N.C. and Jesse Little of Sherrills Ford, N.C. scored feature victories in USAC Ford Focus competition at Concord Speedway Wednesday night. Acton's initial USAC win came in the 40-lap Ford Focus feature. He passed Justin Hommel on lap 36 and led the last five laps to beat Jarett Andretti to the checkered flag. Tyler Corriher, who led the first 22 laps, Chris Lamb and Mike Mahaney rounded out the "top-five." In the accompanying Young Guns race, Little led all 25 laps to beat Austin Prock, Ryan Ayers and Adam Brown.

Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Ill. passed Tate Martz on lap 39 and led the final 62 laps of Thursday night's 100-lap USAC Ford Focus race at Plymouth Speedway in his Kitchen Cooked/Schroth Racing Beast. The race was the longest in USAC Ford Focus pavement history and only the second 100-lapper in USAC Ford Focus history. Blackhurst was trailed by Martz, Tyler Cottongim, Joe Liguori and Kyle O'Gara. In the accompanying Young Guns feature, Gage Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. passed Cooper Clouse on lap eight and led the rest of the way to win the 25-lap race in his Impact/Walker and Sons Beast. The win was his first under USAC sanction. Clouse finished second ahead of Ross Rankine and Stevie Kuhn.

Nick Carlson of Norwalk, Calif. and Casey Martinez of Riverside, Calif. took checkered flags in USAC Ford Focus racing at Perris Auto Speedway Saturday night. Carlson passed Kyle Edwards on lap eight and led the final 13 laps to win the 20-lap Western Dirt Ford Focus feature over Edwards, Wally Pankratz, Tony Cinque and Zach Stout. Martinez led all 20 laps of the accompanying Western Dirt Young Guns feature to beat Daniel Williams, Jarid Blondel, Alex Jacobsen and Bradley Morris.
