FOCUSES AT SALT LAKE CITY SATURDAY & MONDAY; WINS GO TO HUNTER, COOMES, COTTONGIM, STOUT, WILLIAMS & LITTLE (2)

Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah hosts a pair of USAC Western/Utah Ford Focus races this week which could have an impact on 2010 championships. The races in the Utah capital are Saturday and Monday nights.

Cody Gerhardt of Madera, Calif. (Western) and Michael Daniels of Magna, Utah (Utah) are the respective series point leaders entering this week's races.

Scott Hunter, Eric Coomes and Jesse Little earned USAC Ford Focus feature victories during Wednesday night's racing program at Concord (N.C.) Speedway. Little, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., won both the rescheduled August 18 20-lap Young Guns main and the regular season-ending 25-lapper for the Young Guns, claiming the Carolina Young Guns title in the process. Little led all 20 laps of the opener and passed Austin Prock on lap three of the finale to pace the last 23 laps. Hunter, of Concord, led all 31 laps to win the rescheduled August 18 Eastern Ford Focus Feature, while Coomes, of Concord, led all 40 laps of the Ford Focus nightcap. Trailing Little in both Young Guns races were Prock, Adam Brown and Jamie Cox. Hunter was trailed in the Focus opener by Jarett Andretti, Shane MacMillan, Tyler Corriher and Chris Lamb. In the second Focus race Coomes was trailed by Andretti, Hunter, Nick Drake and Justin Hommel.

Tyler Cottongim of Avon, Ind. won Saturday night's 35-lap Eastern/Carolina Ford Focus feature at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, leading the final 15 laps after passing Justin Hommel on lap 21. Trailing Cottongim's Pit Stop Bar & Grill Beast at the checkered flag were Jeremy Frankoski, Chris Lamb, Scott Hunter and fast qualifier Nick Drake.

Zach Stout of Vista, Calif. and Daniel Williams of Glendale, Calif. earned their first USAC feature victories Saturday night in Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns action respectively at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. Stout led all 20 laps of the Western Ford Focus race to beat Nick Carlson, Jet Davison, Kyle Edwards and Wally Pankratz, while Williams led all 20 laps to win the Young Guns feature over Casey Martinez, Bradley Morris, Logan Williams and Jarid Blondel.
