Nearly 50 USAC Ford Focus Midget Car events in 2003.
The popular USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series, which debuted in California in 2002, will expand in 2003 to encompass nearly 50 events in five states. Drivers will be competing for three championships, two in California and one in Indiana.
The brand-new Indiana USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series debuts April 6 at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway and includes special "non-point" events in Ohio and Iowa, plus point-paying races at Sumner, Ill. in July and Lima, Ohio in August. Several of the events are being held in conjunction with other USAC races. Anderson will also host the series finale on October 11-12.
In California, a separate North and South championship has been created, with 8 North and 16 South point-paying events.
The California South series will debut March 15 at Ventura Raceway and conclude November 27 (Turkey Night) at Irwindale Speedway. The California North Series debuts April 18 at Madera Speedway and concludes August 16 at Madera.
