FF: Weekend summaries 2004-10-18

Bobby McGowan of Ramona, Calif. led all but the opening lap of Saturday night's 25-lap USAC California North/South Ford Focus Midget Car feature at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. His win in the "Orleans Hotel & Casino Sprint & Midget Nationals" main event places him fourth in both the North and South series standings.

The North series continues this Saturday night in conjunction with the Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway. Bradley Galedrige, who led the first lap at Las Vegas, then finished seventh, leads the North standings entering the event.

Chris Rahe, the fastest qualifier at Las Vegas, spun into the wall and failed to finish the 25-lapper but continues to lead the South series points and is second in the North standings behind Galedrige.

Chase Scott will cap his 2004 USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Championship season this Saturday night in the series finale at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. He leads Michael Ward by 97 points going into the program at the 4/10-mile paved oval.
