FOCUSES AT MORRIS, CALLAWAY SATURDAY; SKOGLUND, CLOUSER RECORD VICTORIES

USAC Ford Focus action is scheduled Saturday at Callaway, Va. and Morris, Ill., involving participants in the Richard Petty Driving Experience Carolina Series and the USAC/UMARA Series. Tanner Swanson (Carolina) and Mario Clouser (USAC/UMARA) are the series leaders entering the races at Franklin County Speedway (Callaway) and Grundy County Speedway (Morris).

The next California Ford Focus event is Sept. 15 for the Dirt Series at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway, while the Pavement Series has a "special event" slated Oct. 13 at Blythe, Calif. The Auto Trader Utah Developmental Series also continues with a Sept. 15 race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City.

Tim Skoglund of Fresno, Calif. and Mario Clouser of Auburn, Ill racked up another feature win each Saturday night, Skoglund winning the 40-lap California Pavement/Utah Developmental race at Salt Lake City and Clouser taking the 14-lap feature at Morris, Ill.

Skoglund led the final 11 laps at Salt Lake City in his Western Speed & Fuel/Ranchos Auto Repair Gerhardt after passing Robb Josett on lap 30. Josett, who led 18 laps, finished second ahead of fast qualifier Tom Dyer, Caitlin Shaw and Mike Maier. Daniel Adler and Bob Brewer also led the 40-lap race.

Clouser passed Brad Greenup on lap six and led o the checkered at lap 14 at Grundy County in his Illinois Corn Marketing Board Beast, beating Greenup, Mark Wachter, Sara Hyslop and Justin Plunkett.
