SPRINTS & MIDGETS USAC-HOOSIER HUNDRED

8/10/99 From: LEN ASHBURN Time: 8:24 PM

The United States Auto Club has issued a denial of the news item issued August 9th, a copy of which was sent to them as a courtesy. The information in the article was provided by the promoter and was not a false invention of this writer. Permission was received and witnessed by two others to "talk about" this long loved but frequently neglected event by the press in Indiana. It was "good" news and no damage to any party was intended however "unfortunate" it might have appeared to USAC. We regret any inconvenience caused to USAC or any other parties regarding release of this freely provided information, in particular the use of the words "approved by USAC". A better choice of words would have been "applied for". Len Ashburn, Indianapolis Following is the text of the USAC denial......... On August 9, a release was distributed by a third party which indicated the "Hoosier Hundred" is moving to a September date in 2000. Although the release indicated that the move had been "approved by USAC," such is not the case. There have been no discussions with USAC regarding this issue and USAC had absolutely no knowledge of it until we viewed the press release. The statements made are premature at best, but as of right now they are simply false. In fact, the date in question is already reserved for the 20th Annual "Four Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway which features the Coors Light Silver Bullet Series along with the Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series and MCI WorldCom Midget Car Series. The 2000 schedule for the Coors Light Silver Bullet Series will be ready later this year. Any questions can be directed to the USAC Director of Communications Dick Jordan at (317) 247-5151 or by e-mail at djordan10@iquest.net. We apologize for any confusion caused by the unfortunate distribution of this information. Sincerely, Rob Clendening USAC Marketing Services
