MEMPHIS, TN (October 29) -- Kasey Kahne received another Oliver Trucking "Rookie of the Race" award Sunday when he finished fourth in the Memphis 100 USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series finale at Memphis Motorsports Park. Kahne's fourth top-five finish of the season pushed him into 10th place in the standings, nine points behind Paul White. He recorded six top-10 finishes, including one victory, in 14 events. He earned one pole position. He was the series' highest-ranking rookie, scoring 80 more points than Ed Carpenter. The 20-year-old driver from Enumclaw, WA, qualified fourth-quick with a 21.441-second lap. He started outside the second row and quickly bolted into second place. After challenging early leader Derek Davidson for the lead for several laps, Kahne drove the #67 Zarounian Brian & Gary's Cars for Less car low on the back straightaway in lapped traffic to take over first place. Kahne held off Ryan Newman until midway through the race. A broken clutch put Newman in the infield with 24 laps remaining. Brian Tyler took the lead and held off series champion Tracy Hines and Russ Gamester for the victory. TNN televised the race live on its Horsepower TV program.
