Memphis, Tenn. -- June 13, 2006 -- Peter Shepherd and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team are gearing up for a successful weekend at Kentucky Speedway. The USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N makes its first trip to the 1.5-mile oval for the Kentucky 100 Friday night. To have a successful weekend, rookie Peter Shepherd will have to figure out the fastest way around the tri-oval.

"Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5-mile oval like Homestead but is shaped quite differently," said Shepherd. "I will definitely use the practice session to my advantage. We will try to use up all of the track time we can without burning up the tires. I may have to give Carl Edwards a call and see if he can help me with the track."

Carl Edwards knows Kentucky Speedway well. The owner of the No. 199 car scored his first NASCAR win in the Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky on July 12, 2003. He won the Busch race there in 2005.

Peter Shepherd is excited about his second race with the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team. His first outing with the team at Homestead-Miami Speedway netted him a qualifying time good for 4th quick and a 7th place finish.

"Working with Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies team has been one of the best things that I had ever done," said the Brampton, Ontario native on his first outing in the Silver Crown Series. "It is the perfect team to develop with. They have patience and they don't expect wins right away. It is hard to expect wins when you are running with the caliber drivers in the USAC Silver Crown Series."

TEAM LOOKING TO MOVE UP IN POINTS

The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team is looking to move up in the points this weekend with a strong finish in the "Kentucky 100." The team is currently 5th in owner's points.

SINCE HOMESTEAD

It has been almost three months since the USAC Silver Crown Series has raced on pavement and Peter Shepherd has been behind the wheel of the No. 199 Ford powered Silver Crown car. In his time off, Shepherd has moved from Brampton, Ontario to the Charlotte, North Carolina area to be closer to racing.

"It is good to be living around a lot of racers who know the sport and who I can learn from."

Peter Shepherd has also been working out several times a week to prepare him for this weekend.

SHEPHERD FOLLOWING THE CUP

An avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Peter Shepherd is following his new hometown team the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup finals. One may wonder why someone from Canada is not rooting for Edmonton. Shepherd states that his Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers are rivals and he can't root for a rival of his Leafs.

EDWARDS AT KENTUCKY

The owner of the No. 199 Ford powered Silver Crown car is also scheduled to race this weekend at Kentucky. Carl Edwards will drive the No. 60 Henkel Ford for Roush Racing in the Meijer 300 Presented by Oreo NASCAR Busch Series race Saturday night. Edwards is on a roll after winning last weekend's Busch Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. This weekend, Edwards will also pull double duty as he will practice and qualify the No. 99 Office Depot Ford Nextel Cup Series car for the 3M Performance 400 and then fly to Kentucky to qualify and race the No. 60 Henkel Ford Saturday. Hank Parker Jr. is scheduled to practice the No. 60 at Kentucky in Edward's absence. Carl Edwards sits in second in the NASCAR Busch Series points standings.
