Indianapolis, April 5, 2000 -- The United States Auto Club and the Oliver Trucking Corporation, both based in Indianapolis, announced a new sponsorship agreement that will link USAC's newest sponsor with some of USAC's newest driving talent.

Oliver Trucking has agreed to sponsor the Rookie of the Year award program in USAC's premier Coors Light Silver Bullet Series. The program will include an award for the top rookie driver at each race along with the traditional year-end award. They have also agreed to make the race awards retroactive to include the first two events this season at Walt Disney World Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. Those presentations are scheduled for this weekend at Nazareth Speedway which plays host to round three of the 2000 championship.

"We're excited about our new relationship with USAC," said Oliver Trucking President Jim Stiegelmeyer. "Oliver has over 300 drivers, several of whom have driven or owned race cars of one variety or another, and they will be delighted to see our name on the cars. The same is true of our customers throughout the country."

Oliver Trucking has been an associate team sponsor in USAC's MCI WorldCom National Midget Car Series, but this will mark their first venture as a USAC award sponsor. Aside from the link between race drivers and truck drivers there are other similarities that made USAC racing a good fit for the company.

"The values and standards associated with racing are a natural fit for our company," Stiegelmeyer adds. "I'm very impressed with the teamwork, dedication and long hours to deliver a race winner. The support each team gives to each other until they take the track is unparalleled. I think our association with this level of racing can only generate positive things."

Another important part of the rookie program is the opportunity to associate the Oliver Trucking name with some of USAC's brightest, young talent. Past winners of the Rookie of the Year award include current NASCAR drivers Kenny Irwin, Dave Blaney and Randy Tolsma, Indianapolis 500 veterans Jack Hewitt and Jimmy Kite, as well as Jimmy Sills and Stevie Reeves to name a few.
