KAEDING AGAIN! WISE TOPS TQs, MIDGETS AT KINGS SATURDAY NIGHT

Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Calif. and Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif. captured USAC "Western" feature victories Saturday night at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. The MCI WorldCom Western Midget Car Series resumes this Saturday night at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif., while the Western Sprint Cars are idle until an October 10 race at Madera, Calif. and the MCI WorldCom TQ Midget Cars are idle until an October 30 race at Ventura, Calif. Kaeding fought off a determined bid from Todd Ellison to score his fifth consecutive Irwindale triumph in his BK Motorsports Special. Ellison finished second ahead of Stoops Freightliner National Sprint Car regular Jason McCord, Wally Pankratz and Bobby McMahan. Ellison led the opening lap, then yielded to Wally Pankratz for the next four laps. Ellison took over on lap six but succumbed to Kaeding's charge on lap 24. Kaeding continues to lead the Sprint Car standings going into an October 10 race at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway. Marc DeBeaumont of Clayton, Calif. continues his quest for the 1999 MCI WorldCom Western Midget Car title this Saturday night at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. A 30-lap feature caps the program on the 3/8-mile dirt track. DeBeaumont leads Shane Scully by 43 points, but Alex Harris trails Scully by only 18 in third. The MCI WorldCom TQ Midget Car championship is up for grabs after Josh Wise won Saturday night's 20-lapper at Irwindale Speedway. Wise now trails Greg Edenholm (ninth at Irwindale) by only four points after taking the lead from fast qualifier J.J. Ercse on the 12th lap and leading the rest of the way. Ercse finished second ahead of Harris, Walt Johnson and West Evans.
