$30,000-TO-WIN AT OSKALOOSA TUESDAY; WILSON TAKES SALEM'S "JAMES/O'CONNOR MEMORIAL"
Levi Jones leads the USAC National Sprint Cars to Tuesday night's "$30,000-to-win" Searsboro Telephone USAC Ultimate Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Knoxville, Iowa. Jones emerged from Sunday's race at Salem, Ind. with a 41-point lead over Jerry Coons Jr. in the latest series standings. Jones was eighth and Coons sixth in the Salem 50-lapper.
Jacob Wilson of Crawfordsville, Ind. won Sunday's 49th Indiana Stone Works "Joe James/Pat O'Connor Memorial" race at the Salem Speedway. He led the final 21 laps of the USAC National Sprint Car feature on the 1/2-mile paved oval in his Fatheadz.com/Jet Star Beast/Claxton Chevy.
Tracy Hines finished second ahead of Mike Murgoitio, Eric Gordon and Marc Jessup. Jessup led the first 29 laps of the race. Wilson was also the day's fastest qualifier.
Jones won the 2005 "Ultimate Challenge" at Oskaloosa, while Coons was the 2006 race winner. Last year's event was rained out.
