$90,000 "TERRE HAUTE NATIONAL OPEN" JUNE 17-19 GIVES USAC TOP NON-WINGED SPRINT, MIDGET RACES IN 1999

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the 16th Street Speedway's "Summer Sizzle '99" comes the announcement of the Inaugural Clabber Girl Baking Powder "Terre Haute National Open," a $90,000 Sprint Car event to be held at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track June 17-19. The addition of this program gives the United States Auto Club the world's richest-ever non-winged Sprint Car and Midget Car events in the same season! Race organizer Gerry Olsen of OW Motorsports has arranged for the largest non-winged Sprint Car purse in history for the three-night program of Stoops Freightliner/USAC Sprint Car racing at the 1/2-mile dirt oval and co-sanction by the Sprint Car Racing Association (SCRA) of California will ensure fans of witnessing the finest in non-winged Sprint car talent on one of the nation's most spectacular short tracks. Combined with the four-night "Summer Sizzle '99" MCI WorldCom Midget Car program at 16th Street, nearly a quarter of a million dollars will be distributed to participants in these two events alone! The "Terre Haute National Open" begins on Thursday night, June 17 and continues on Friday night, June 18 and Saturday night, June 19. A feature event caps each night's complete racing program and the Saturday night race winner will earn $17,000! Ticket prices for the Terre Haute races range from $5 for kids 6-12 to $22 for adults on the final day. Children 12 and under are free! Gates are scheduled to open on Thursday and Friday at 3:30 p.m., with racing at 7:30. Gates open on Saturday at 3 and racing again begins at 7:30. The summer of '99 is sure to be one to remember.
