Weld Racing returns as Silver Crown Series sponsor in '03.
Weld Motorsports of Kansas City, Mo. and the United States Auto Club announced today that Weld Racing will return as the series entitlement sponsor for the 2003 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship Series.
"We're extremely pleased to continue our association with what we feel is the world's most competitive auto racing series," said Taylor Weld, Vice President of Research and Development for Weld Motorsports. "We benefited greatly from the exposure we received in 2002 and we anticipate a great 2003 racing season" Weld Racing President Greg Weld added: "As a former driver, I understand the importance of series sponsorships from both sides of the fence. We truly love this series and are thrilled to be a big part of it."
The Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship Series continues a great tradition of American open-wheel racing, one which dates back to the inception of the sport. The series became its own entity in 1971 and the list of champions in the ensuing years reads like a who's-who, with names like A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and Al Unser and more recently the likes of Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Jeff Gordon, Jason Leffler and Mike Bliss.
USAC Director of Sales & Marketing Steve Farmer adds: "Naturally, we are ecstatic about Weld Racing's return. Greg and Taylor have long been not only suppliers of quality products for our competitors but valued friends of the club and its participant members. Their continued support of our activities is sincerely appreciated and our combined efforts will continue to elevate the series and the sport."
The 2003 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship Series is presently scheduled to open at the Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona March 23 at the running of the Copper World Indy 200.
