WESTERN MIDGETS RESUME SATURDAY AT BAKERSFIELD

The 2009 USAC Western Midget campaign resumes Saturday night at the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway and a complete shakeup in the standings is in the offing.

Following the February National/Western Midget openers in Arizona, Nevada and California, National drivers occupy the top spots in the current standings, but that should change as the Western regulars forge to the front Saturday. The Bakersfield "tripleheader" also features California Dirt Ford Focus and Junior Ford Focus racing.

Brad Kuhn, Josh Ford and Nic Faas won USAC's Western Midget features at Bakersfield during 2008. Faas ended up winning the 2008 series championship and "Rookie of the Year" honors.

Faas had a first, third and sixth in last year's Bakersfield races. Other drivers to watch Saturday could include Scott Pierovich, who had a second and third there last year, plus Robby Josett and Robby Flock who each had a pair of "top-fives" at the 1/3-mile dirt oval.
