The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered By Mazda had two test sessions on Thursday at Sonoma Raceway and very few things remained constant between sessions for the 21 car field.
The first session had title contender RC Enerson post the fastest lap of 1:35.6459 over title leader Florian Latorre’s best lap of a 1:35.9758 with Colton Herta, son of Verizon IndyCar Series team owner Bryan Herta ending the session in third place with a 1:36.0365 lap.
The driver that’s second in points, Jake Eidson, wound up 7th best as Lucas Oil Raceway winner Aaron Telitz posted the sixth fastest lap.
The second session had a different look to it as Latorre led the timesheet with a lap of 1:35.6587 while Eidson was able to hit on something with the setup to post the second fastest lap of the session with a 1:135.9732. Herta was third again in the session with a lap of 1:36.3957. Telitz was fourth while Enerson could only manage an eighth place run in practice.
The USF2000 series will have a 30 minute practice session early in the morning with qualifying to be held at 11:45 Pacific time. Race number one of the weekend will be at 3:20 in the afternoon local time. The race will be forty minutes.
