D'ALBERTO SWEATS TO BEST 2008 RESULT AT ALBERT PARK

Tony D'Alberto drove to 15th place in today's final race for the V8 Supercar Challenge at Albert Park in what is his best finishing position in 2008.

As if being around 40 degrees outside the car ,and pushing 60 inside, was bad enough for Tony, his cool suit (that flows cold water through tubes in his suit) failed to work from the start of the race when he suffered alternator failure.

"That was one hot race," he said afterwards.

"It really took it out of me but I managed to keep pushing to the end of the race."

Tony fought race-long with Jason Bright ahead of him and Greg Murphy behind in what was his best run yet. The result netted him 17th overall for the weekend.

Qualifying didn't go entirely to plan for Tony; he ended up 22nd unable to take advantage of his second set of tyres after he couldn't get a clear lap in the 'magic' first two laps.

"I was up around 13th before the tyre change and then we couldn't get a faster lap which dropped us down a bit," he said.

"I will just have to improve on that aspect of my qualifying."

The first two races went relatively incident free except for a late clash with Marcus Marshall in Race 1 where Tony finished 18th.

Due to the special 'Red v Blue' points system Tony was relegated back to 22nd grid spot for race 2 and climbed to 19th place at the end.

"This was good round for us," Tony said.

"We have come away with not only a great result but with some valuable experience racing side by side with some really experienced guys.

"That is what it is about in the early part of the year for us as we get settled as a team."

Tony's next race will be at New Zealand's Hamilton street circuit on 18-20 April.
