D'ALBERTO READY FOR FIRST TRIP TO PERTH'S BARBAGALLO RACEWAY

Tony D'Alberto will make his first trip to Perth's Barbagallo Raceway for this weekend's Round 4 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Coming off his best performance of the year at New Zealand's Hamilton Street Race D'Alberto is looking forward to his next challenge at one of Australia's longest running Series circuits.

"I have watched the racing at Barbagallo on TV all my life but I have never actually raced there before," Tony said.

"there have been a lot of great races over the years and it is special to be able to race on one of the traditional famous circuits."

The Rod Nash Racing team has repaired the damage sustained in the final race at Hamilton and sent the car and transporter for the 3500km journey to Perth, leaving last Saturday.

"It was a big job for all the guys to get the car back from New Zealand and turned around for the week-long journey across the country."

Tony and the team are riding a wave of confidence after strong progress in the early part of the year.

"We are building some good momentum as the year progresses," Tony said.

"Each round presents some new challenges and Barbagallo will be no different.

"Although the circuit is quite short it presents some real challenges especially with a lot of sand being blown onto the track throughout the meeting.

D'Alberto has broached each challenge this year with maturity and his crew has performed to the highest level to give him reliable equipment and fast pit stops.

"It is not just me who is gaining experience each round but all the guys are getting better at their specific jobs which is important in the push forward.

"As with every other round I will be giving it my best shot and trying to move forward while keeping out of trouble," he said.

The final race of the weekend has proved to be Tony's downfall so far this season after being crashed out twice and having a mechanical failure once in the first three rounds.

"We have had a bit of bad luck in the final races so far but we will just keep pushing on."

The V8 Supercars have practice on Friday, qualifying and race 1 on Saturday with the final two races on Sunday.
