Bathurst 1000: Reynolds tops Saturday practice
Erebus driver David Reynolds topped today’s sole practice session at Mount Panorama.

Reynolds jumped to the top early with a 2m04.994s, a time that ultimately proved good enough to secure P1.
His cause was helped by a red flag with two minutes to go, called when Taz Douglas beached himself in the gravel at Turn 1.
That put a halt to any Top 10 Shootout simulations, which could have seen Reynolds’ time bested.
“My car wasn’t too bad,” said Reynolds.
“It was a one lap old set of tyres, so they weren’t brand new. For me to go a lot quicker I need that new tyre grip in the rear, and I just didn’t have it then. But yeah, overall it’s pretty good.”
James Courtney was one of the few drivers to get a single-lap simulation run in at the end, jumping into second with a 2m05.039s right before the red flag came out.
Shane van Gisbergen was third quickest, like Reynolds setting his time early. Chaz Mostert was fourth, having set his 2m05.372s at the start of a Shootout sim inside the last five minutes.
Mostert’s Prodrive Racing teammate Mark Winterbottom was fifth quickest, ahead of Scott Pye and Jamie Whincup.
