D'ALBERTO QUALIFIES 24TH FOR BATHURST 1000
Tony D'Alberto has qualified the Rod Nash Racing VE Commodore on grid 24 for Sunday's Super Cheap Auto 1000.
After an excellent showing of speed by Tony and co-driver Jason Bargwanna in the early practice sessions Tony were unable to put in a similar time in qualifying this afternoon.
"We had a horror run in qualifying," Tony said.
"I didn't bank a time early in the session and the latter part was interrupted by red flags."
Tony's first run on new rubber was thwarted when the red flag came out just 1 lap after to clear a television cable that had fallen onto the circuit.
A second set was fitted and when the track was re-opened there was just enough time for one flying lap and, although Tony improved on his time it was not enough to reach the second leg of qualifying.
"Our focus has always been on the race this weekend but it would have been nice to qualify higher up the grid," Tony said.
"The guys have done a fantastic job preparing the car for this meeting as usual."
The final practice session is tomorrow morning followed by Sunday's 1000km race.
