Eastern Creek: Tony D'Alberto preview

D'ALBERTO READY FOR ROUND 2 AT EASTERN CREEK

Tony D'Alberto is looking forward to Round 2 of the V8 Supercar Championship this weekend at Sydney's Eastern Creek this weekend after completing his first Series round at the Clipsal 500 two weeks ago.

The 22 year-old Victorian was running in 11th place in Sunday's main race when front wheel problems put him out of the race just seven laps from the end.

While Tony was disappointed not to finish he was happy with the Rod Nash Racing team's performance over the weekend.

"We ran pretty much trouble-free to that point," he said.

"The team worked really well over the meeting and the car was very fast."

With his first meeting out of the way Tony is now looking to push further up the grid at Eastern Creek.

"We are just taking it step by step but to get Adelaide out of the way is a big relief to me because I now have the confidence to race door to door with guys that have been doing this for a long time."

Eastern Creek is the circuit that Tony made his Development series V8 debut back in 2003 with the Holden Young Lions team as a 17 year-old.

His most recent visit to the circuit, back in 2005, netted him 3rd place in the Development Series round.

"It has been a while since I have been to Eastern Creek," Tony said.

"We have gone pretty well there in the past so I don't think that it will take too long to tune into the circuit."

Practice is on Friday with qualifying and race 1 on Saturday followed by race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
