IRWIN Racing's Lee Holdsworth and Craig Baird have finished the second leg of the Armor All Gold Coast 600 in fifth place after 300 tough kilometres of racing on the streets of Surfers Paradise.
The result also placed the duo fifth in the inaugural PIRTEK Enduro Cup which encompassed the Wilson Security Sandown 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and this weekend's race on the Gold Coast.
After placing 12th in the opening race on Saturday, Holdsworth came out in qualifying and put the Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 V8 Supercar from Erebus Motorsport in sixth starting position for the Sunday race.
Baird started the race and comfortably sat inside the top- 10 and moved to as high as third prior to his pit stop.
Holdsworth drove the final two-thirds of the race and went toe-to-toe with champion Jamie Whincup as the duo moved through the field.
After the second and final safety car Holdsworth was seventh and made up two more spots through to the finish.
The performance of the IRWIN Racing E63 over the past three races cannot be underestimated, with a total of 2100km of endurance racing and the car completing everyone one of the 526 laps contested. Not only has the car been reliable, but just as importantly, it was fast and competitive which has the team feeling positive heading into the final two events of the season at Phillip island and the streets of Sydney Olympic Park.
