It was confirmed several weeks ago that Bright would depart the Brad Jones Racing outfit at the end of this season after a seven-year stint in Albury, with rumours quickly surfacing that he would take the Racing Entitlements Contract he owns away from BJR and use it to make a return to Prodrive.

Those rumours were further fuelled by Friday’s news of Tim Blanchard purchasing the Super Black Racing REC to be used at BJR, which effectively confirmed that the fourth slot was open at PRA, and that Bright's REC wouldn't be used at BJR.

The merry-go-round has now been properly confirmed, PRA announcing today that Bright will return to Campbellfield in 2017 to run a Ford backed by petrol supply company MEGA Limited, a brand new sponsor to the sport.

“I am really excited about the opportunity for 2017,” said Bright, who will race under number #56 next season.

“I feel like we can be competitive.

“PRA have been very successful in the last few years with plenty of race wins, two Bathurst titles and a championship, so I am looking forward to stepping back into one of their cars and seeing how we go.

“It is also great to see a new sponsor in MEGA Limited entering the series and I am going to enjoy representing them.”

Bright has a history with the Prodrive organisation, having raced there in 2005 and 2006 during the Ford Performance Racing days.

“It is great to have Jason back at the team and we are all looking forward to having him back racing our cars and continuing the success we shared all those years ago,” said PRA team boss Tim Edwards.

“There is actually a lot of staff that he worked with in '05/06 that are still part of the team so there is a degree of familiarity which will help too, plus he will bring a lot of knowledge and be a great sounding board for Chaz [Mostert] and Cam [Waters] which will be a big benefit.”
