Paul Morris to give V8 Ute Rookie Winner V8 Supercar Test

The V8 Superschool Rookie of the year point-score and the chance to test in a Paul Morris Motorsport V8 Supercar is about to be handed out at the final round of the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All at the Sydney Telstra 500, 3 - 5 December.

Nulon Oil driver, David Sieders is currently leading the charge on 730 points and is untouchable heading into the final round, 162 points ahead of Rockstar Energy drink driver Jeremy Gray.

Sieders is over the moon with the result and is looking forward to an even bigger challenge.

"It's awesome going into the last round untouchable for the Rookie title. The team has done a great job and we'll just have to push hard to get into the top three," said Sieders.

Also contesting the title is West Coast Racing driver, Rhys McNally and although all three drivers are currently running in the top ten in the Series they have also shared a few ups and downs.

Sieders and Gray kicked off the season in great style both claiming podium wins at the first round in the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. Although McNally has yet to set foot on the podium, he did walk-away with his first race win at the recent Armor All Gold Coast 600 event, cementing his current top ten spot in the Series.

McNally's older brother Glenn won the title in 2008 and although the NRW Holding's backed driver would've liked to have claimed the win, he is still pleased with his performance.

"I would have liked to have picked up the driving a Ute thing a bit quicker, however at least we are coming good in the latter part of the year. David and Jeremy both did well this year."

"We've got our heads around it now so we can only keep getting better and hopefully pick-up a few more race wins in the future," explained McNally.

Unlike McNally who came straight from a Go Karting background, Gray stepped into the Series with a Motocross resume and limited four wheel race experience. He drove well to claim two podiums throughout the year at the Clipsal 500 and Townsville.

Sieders not only has his eye on the V8 Superschool Rookie of the Year prize, he is also chasing a top three position in the Series. He is currently running fourth, only four points behind his Sieders Racing teammate Andrew Fisher. Fisher claimed the 2007 Rookie of the Year in his first season with the Utes and finished his first year in the Series in fourth; Sieders is hoping to one better his teammate and jump on the podium for the Series.

"There's every chance I can catch him and I haven't discounted catching Jack yet. He's only one race away from me so if he has a bad round it's there for the taking," said Sieders.

The winner of the Series will also receive a test with Paul Morris Motorsport and the two V8 Ute drivers will head to Queensland Raceway early in 2011.

Both winning drivers will attend the Driving Centre at Norwell for a day of Driver training and Race Team introductions before heading out in the Supercar.

Paul Morris Motorsport Team Manager, Scott Jennings believes it's a much deserved opportunity for the winners.

"We see it (V8 Utes) as a good feeder category for V8 Supercars especially for the Fujitsu series, and it's important to give guys who win titles like the Rookie and also the Championship the opportunity to display their talents in a V8 Supercar," said Jennings.

Two live races have been scheduled on SEVEN Network to catch the action of the grand finale' of the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All at the Sydney Telstra 500.
