DODO RACING SURVIVES CHAOS TO FINISH 14TH AT PHILLIP ISLAND
Dodo Racing Team drivers Jack Perkins and Dale Wood have survived a chaotic first endurance event of the season with 14th place in the L&H 500 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria today.
It was a workman-like effort from the pairing, who were on the wrong end of several incidents with rivals that saw the #11 Dodo Holden Commorore making an off-road excursion on a few occasions.
Despite the incidents, the pairing brought the Dodo Commodore home for one of its strongest performances for the season.
Will Davison and Garth Tander won today's L&H 500 ahead of Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes and the pairing of Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards.
The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will be held at the iconic Mount Panorama circuit on October 8-11.
DODO RACING TEAM QUOTEBOARD
Jack Perkins - #11 Dodo Holden Commodore:
"Any time you can get in the top 15 it's a good result," said Jack Perkins.
"The Dodo Racing Team performed well all day. Ultimately we could have done better from a driving point of view. Both Dale and I made a couple of driving errors, which could have cost us but P14 is a good result from the Dodo Commodore.
"I can't wait for Bathurst, I love the race, I love the track. Last year we had a solid top 10 result there and I'm looking forward to taking the Dodo Commodore into the top 10 there as well."
Dale Wood - #11 Dodo Holden Commodore:
"We're happy with today," said Dale Wood.
"You always want a bit better and top 10 would have been great but anyway that's not to be.
"It was always going to be hard starting 21st, but the Dodo Commodore was great and held together strong for the whole race.
"There were a couple of things I'd like to iron out of my stint, like getting hit by (Karl) Reindler and that sort of thing. But it's all part-and-parcel of it.
"We came home with a straight car and a car that was still running strong so it's a good finish and Jack did a good job today as well.
"I feel really good about Bathurst. I've been working hard on my fitness and training and I've honestly never felt better in the car so I was really happy about that.
"I got out of my 50-something lap stint and felt ready to run a marathon. I think we've just built some good foundations to go to Bathurst and do a good job there."
