As revealed in Motorsport.com’s recent endurance silly season analysis, former A1GP driver Reindler has been called up to partner Lee Holdsworth at Sandown, Bathurst, and on the Gold Coast.
The news was confirmed as part of Team 18’s official launch today, which also included the reveal of the Triple Eight-built Commodore’s livery for the 2016 season.
Team 18 is technically the newest team on the V8 grid, forming late last year after owner Charlie Schwerkolt broke off ties with Walkinshaw Racing.
The technical side will be run by Jeff Grech, and while it might be a small operation Schwerkolt believes it will give Holdsworth the best chance he’s ever had.
“It’s Lee’s time to shine now,” Schwerkolt said.
“We are giving him everything he needs, a new car, his own team - there are no other drivers for him to beat so it’s all about him.
“This is a dream for me to do my own show, I probably didn’t think it would ever happen but it feels really good.
“I am very proud to confirm Preston Hire as our naming rights sponsor for 2016. We couldn’t go racing without them, they are really good people and a great Australian company, they are in for a big year ahead.”
